Cutting Costs At Walt Disney World

One of the topics that we’ve discussed in the past has been how to save money for your Disney vacation, but that’s really only half of the equation. The other half involves cutting costs. Today, we’re going to dive into this topic and I’m going to share some of our favorite ways to cut costs while at Walt Disney World!

Bring Snacks & Basic Food Items

One of the absolute best and easiest ways to significantly cut the cost of your Walt Disney World vacation is to bring some food along with you. There are a lot of different ways you can go about doing this, but our favorite things to bring include snacks and breakfast foods. Having these items on hand, in your room and/or backpack, is a great way to cut down on excess spending. Rather than making that $7.00 snack purchase to hold you over or spend $12.00 on a breakfast, you can reach for something that would have cost you a fraction of the cost.

For those who are working with a very tight budget, this is a must as it can save you in the ballpark of $25.00 per person for each day of your vacation. However, the benefits of bringing some snacks and food items don’t stop there. It can also be a huge time saver to have breakfast in your room [waiting for your buss or standing in line] or grab a snack to hold you over because you’ve been caught in a long line.

[NOTE: Some of the scenarios outlined, such as snacking in line, might not be possible at this time due to health and safety guidelines. Please keep this in mind.]

Shop Sales & Bring Some Souvenirs With You

This one is especially great for travelers with young children, but can be useful for just about everyone. Before you travel to Walt Disney World, check sales in your local area [and online] for some Disney items that your kids or family members might enjoy. Once the items have been purchased at a discount, they can be packed away and saved to be enjoyed during your Disney vacation. It’s really that simple.

Crunch The Numbers

One of the biggest mistakes you can make when planning your Walt Disney World vacation, especially if you’re looking to save money, is to go with the cheapest option available to you without crunching the numbers. Booking a hotel is a great example of this. There are many people out there who, in an attempt to save money, make the decision not to stay at one of the Walt Disney World resort hotels and as a result end up spending more on things like transportation and parking. Though there’s no definitive way to say exactly what will be the right choice for you and your family, making sure that you take all things into account [getting to and from the airport, car rental, parking fees and so on] is important.

As is so often the case when we talk about budgeting and saving money, not everything we’ve shared today will work for everyone. That said, we’re always keeping an eye out for more tips and tricks to share with you. Don’t worry, we’ll let you know ‘em as soon as we do! Until then, what are some of your favorite ways to save money or cut corners when planning a Walt Disney World vacation? We’d love to hear what you’ve done!
