Spaceship Earth Tests New Lights

We’ve known for some time now that Spaceship Earth would be getting an update in celebration of Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary. While it’s true that the attraction within the giant geosphere will not change [yet], the structure itself has been updated with new lighting. We’ve talked a little bit about these points of light a bit in the past and how they will be installed for the 50th, but will be a permanent addition. What we didn’t talk too much about was what exactly these new lights would be capable of. . . . . until now.

Thanks to @MickeyViews on Twitter, we have a look at these points of light in action as they bring Spaceship Earth to life like never before.

The video, which was posted on September 22, shows the familiar park icon covered in a rainbow of changing colors that swirl around the sphere. The poster also went ahead and laid in some of the Spaceship Earth soundtrack over the video. . . which made us feel all warm and fuzzy.

With the 50th Anniversary celebration right around the corner, I’m sure that we’ll be seeing a whole lot of Spaceship Earth [and all of the other fun things Disney has in store] over the next couple of weeks and throughout the next 18 months of the celebration. While this is only a test, we’re very excited to see what the rest of the park icons look like and experience them in person soon.
