Multiple Parties Now Boarding Disney Skyliner Vehicles
Another change has taken place at Walt Disney World this week as more health and safety protocols are being relaxed around the resort. Now, rather than boarding one party per ride vehicle, the Disney Skyliner is allowing multiple parties to board the same vehicle.
Since the parks reopened last year, the Disney Skyliner ride vehicles have been limited to one party per vehicle in an attempt to promote physical distancing. This reduced the capacity of the Disney Skyliner and contributed to longer lines and wait times. Allowing multiple parties to board the same ride vehicle essentially increases the Disney Skyliner’s capacity; something that is much needed with the increase of overall part capacity that has been happening at Walt Disney World.
Ride vehicles on the Disney Skyliner are enclosed gondolas with window vents that can be opened to ensure good air circulation. This is part of the system the Disney Skyliner has in place to keep guests cool, as the vehicles are not air conditioned. Each ride vehicle has a maximum capacity of about 10 guests, which would be quite tight in our opinion, but it’s important to keep in mind that having that many guests on each vehicle is unlikely. Even prior to the pandemic, it was rare for the gondolas to be filled to capacity and the likelihood of hit happening at this time is slim.
Though these are multiple parties being loaded on the Disney Skyliner ride vehicles, it seems as though Cast Members may accommodate those who’d rather ride alone if enough notice is given. Of course, the Disney Skyliner is a continuously moving system of transportation, so if this is a concern of yours then it might be best to ensure you speak up quickly so that you can be accommodated.
