No Super Bowl Parade This Year At Walt Disney World
All over the country football fans are gearing up for the annual tradition of eating bar food and watching the big game. The same can be said for Walt Disney World, who have been known for celebrating the annual big game Champions following the game with a parade and commercial.
Unfortunately, like so many other thing, this year’s big game traditions will look a little bit different at Walt Disney World. Unlike years past, there will not be an annual “Super Bowl parade” down Mains Street U.S.A. at the Magic Kingdom this year.
Though this is likely a disappointment for the fans who enjoy lining the streets to cheer for the winning team, the announcement of this year’s cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Since last year, when the parks reopened after their extended closure, Walt Disney World theme parks have not returned parades to their entertainment schedule. This is being done as a way to manage and mitigate crowds while enforcing social distancing.
Some traditions will continue this year though, including the iconic “I’m Going To Disney World!” commercial. The commercial, which has been airing since 1987, is still set to air Sunday night following the big game.
In times like these, it can be hard to swallow the loss or alteration of another tradition. Fortunately, this is only temporary. According to the announcement, Walt Disney World does foresee the parade returning in the future when it is safe to do so and it hopeful that will be next year. We are hopeful too!
