Changes Coming To DAS Program

There were a lot of changes being announced by Walt Disney World yesterday, one of which is related to the DAS Program. These changes, which can be expected around fall this year, are designed to make the experience at Walt Disney World a better one for guests and their families.

So what can we expect?

The Disability Access Service [aka DAS] program will be getting what disney is calling ‘enhancements’. In the near future, those who want to utilize the DAS program will have the ability to enroll into the program before arriving at Walt Disney World rather than having to go through the process when arriving at the park. Those participating in the DAS program will also have the ability to select attractions from their mobile device rather than having to go to a physical location in the parks.

In the past, guests who wanted to participate in the DAS program would have to wait until they arrived at their Walt Disney World theme park of choice to enroll in the program. At times, this could be a very lengthy process. Then, once enrolled, they would have to go to a physical location in the park to select which attractions they would like to ride with their families. This too could be a bit time consuming as you could find yourself having to detour towards one of these Guest Relations stations.

While this will be a new way for guests to utilize the DAS program, Walt Disney World wants to assure those who prefer the old system that it will remain in place for those who choose to use it. These new enhancements are just that, enhancements, and will be available in addition to what is currently in place now.

Here at 2 Foolish Mortals we think that this is a welcome change coming to the DAS program. While it’s not for everyone, with a majority of people using mobile devices while at Walt Disney World to do things like look at maps and order food, this seems like an obvious addition to us. Of course, we’d love to know what you think. Join the Jamboree over on Facebook to tell us if you are happy about this addition or if you would rather use the old system. See you there!
