First Look At The New Spaceship Earth
It's a big year for Walt Disney World! October 1st marks the 50th anniversary of the theme park and Disney plans to celebrate in style.
One of the many ways that Walt Disney World plans to mark the occasion is by transforming all 4 of the park icons. We've already seen the changes being made to Cinderella Castle, but the next 'finished product' on the list is Spaceship Earth.
Probably one of the most iconic and breathtaking icons at the Walt Disney World Resort [at least in our opinion], Spaceship Earth stands just inside the entrance of EPCOT. The massive geosphere, that towers over guests as they walk into Future World, serves as more than just a park icon. Inside the structure is an attraction that tells the story of how human kind has learned to communicate and share ideas over the course of history. It's a must do for EPCOT fans for sure!
Since it was erected, Spaceship Earth has been iconic day or night. However, Disney has taken things to another level with the addition of new lighting that was installed for the 50th Anniversary celebration. These new 'points of light' offer multicolored illumination of Spaceship Earth, which we got our first look at this week.
The photos that have been shared are spectacular and show Spaceship Earth in a new, but also subtle way that we personally think will only enhanse this park icon moving forward.
Unlike other decorations for the 50th Anniversary, these points of light on Spaceship Earth are going to hang around. Disney announced that these are a perminant addition to Spaceship Earth for guests to enjoy, even beyond the celebration.
What do you think of the new lights on Spaceship Earth? Also, what is your favorite park icon at the Walt Disney World Resort? Tell us all about it by joining the Jamboree. See you there!
