Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park Opens For 2021

It might be hard to believe, or at least wrap your head around, but it’s been nearly a year since the closures at Walt Disney World due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Though some parts of the Walt Disney World Resort reopened in July of last year, others have remained closed. Among those places, Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks. That is, until this past weekend when Disney’s Blizzard Beach opened its gates again welcoming guests for the first time since last March.

👻 Attention Happy Haunts: At this time, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remains closed at this time.

As you might expect, opening Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in the midst of what continues to be an ongoing pandemic comes with some changes to what might be considered “regular” operations. Disney explains on their website:

“Like other areas of Walt Disney World Resort, we will welcome back Guests and Cast Members to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in a responsible wa, with a plan focused on health and well-being. Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is operating in alignment with the health and safety protocols implemented throughout the Walt Disney World Resort, including reduced capacity, temperature screenings, physical distancing marking and face coverings. Face coverings will be required for each Guest age 2 and up, including but not limited to, at the park entrance and exit, retail areas, and food and beverage ordering areas. Face coverings will not be permitted while experiencing water slides or in the water. You may also remove your face covering while actively eating or drinking, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing.”

The website goes on to explain that a park reservation is not required to visit Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park at this time. However, this is subject to change and may be required in the future.

Initial reports out of Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park show that the same health and safety protocols we have seen elsewhere at Walt Disney World Resort have been put into place here at the water park. This includes everything that was outlined in the above statement as well as signage explaining the procedures and how to have fun at Blizzard Beach in a safe way. We’d also anticipate that Cast Members are ready and willing to remind and guide guests as they enjoy their day at the ski resort melting in the Florida sun.

As always, if you’re planning a visit to Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park in the near future, be sure to check the website regularly leading up to your trip so that you don’t miss any important details or updates. You can visit the website by clicking HERE. We’ll also do our best to share any major changes or updates with you as they become available.
