Incredible Rooms At Disney’s Contemporary Resort
We’ve known for quite some time now that Disney’s Contemporary Resort would be getting an update, but it wasn’t always clear what we should expect. There had been whispers about the rooms being themes to The Incredibles that were later confirmed, but it still wasn’t too clear what the rooms would look like. That’s all changed though, because we got our first look at the new rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Thanks to a recent post made on Disney Parks Blog, we now know that the new rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort are. . . . well. . . . Incredible!
The new rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort are modern and sleek, keeping with the retro-modern aesthetic of the resort which is said to evoke Tomorrowland. A “Monorail motif” is featured in the rooms, which is appropriate given that the WDW Monorail passes through the building, as well as some touches of imagery from the Incredibles films. Guests will see characters such as Jack-Jack, Frozone, Edna Mode and other Incredibles throughout the room on pillows, the curtains and artwork. There are also a few other surprises that guests will encounter while moving about their room, such as various items in the bedside table drawer and super suits hanging in the closet.
Beyond fun touches, the updates to these rooms are similar to what we’d expect to see in a newly renovated or remodeled Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Beds are now elevated, allowing guests to store luggage or other large items underneath. Showers have been upgraded to a rainfall showerhead with a removable sprayer and from what we can tell carpet has been removed. The rest of the room has also been updated to look nondescript and generic, being less than impressive if you were to remove the aforementioned touches. Of course, this may have been done purposefully so that the theme can changed out in the future without having to remodel the whole of the rooms.
Our first impression of these new rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is a fairly good one. Though neither of us are a huge fan of the nondescript and generic feel that some of these new rooms have, nor are we big fans of The Incredibles, Disney seems to have done a good job here. The theming around the room seems to be right in the sweet spot; not too much that it overtakes the room, but not too little that you can’t figure it out. The hidden details, such as what you’ll find in the closet and the nightstand drawer, are also a great touch.
Quite frankly, these touches and hidden details are what we think guest should expect when staying at a Deluxe Resort at Walt Disney World. They’re the kind of elements that make it feel like you’re somewhere special and that you’re not leaving the magic at the end of the day. . . . even when heading back to your room. Though they may be simple, they’re effective and we really hope that Disney continues to keep this going as they renovate and remodel more rooms in the future.

Currently, the first phase of this update is underway. This includes all 9 floors that are part of the tower. These rooms are set to debut in fall of this year, just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary and all the festivities that will come along with it. Once these first 9 floors are complete, guests rooms in the Garden Wing will undergo construction. At this time, there doesn’t seem to be information regarding the potential of whether or not Bay Lake Tower, the Disney Vacation Club Villas that are part of Disney’s Contemporary Resort, will be receiving any sort of update or retheming.

We’re very excited to see that these rooms are getting some much needed love and we can’t wait to see them in person once they’re done. Of course, we’d love to know what you have to say about these rooms. Do you like what they have done with them or do you prefer the old rooms? What about The Incredibles as a theme? Do you think that this is the right choice for this hotel? We’d love to hear everything you have to say and hope you’ll Join the Jamboree to share your thoughts on this and other bits of news with us. We’re materializing over there right now and hope you’ll join us!
