Plexiglass Being Removed At Walt Disney World

Things have been a little different around Walt Disney World since they reopened nearly a year ago after an extended closure due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. We’ve seen ground markers to promote physical distancing and in some cases we’ve had to bypass pre-shows for some of our favorite attractions. The list of health and safety protocols put in place to keep guests and Cast Members safe has been a long one, but it’s getting shorter by the day.

Not long after announcing that masks would no longer be required in most locations around Walt Disney World for vaccinated guests, Walt Disney World has started removing more of the plexiglass dividers that we’ve seen installed over the course of the past year. These dividers were put into place on many attractions and in Walt Disney World transportation options, such as buses and the monorail.

The goal of these dividers was a simple one; divide parties and elimitatie contact. Though they were arguably effective, they also presented a few problems. In terms of capacity, the dividers greatly reduced the amount of people who could occupy ride vehicles and/or transportation options. Plexiglass also impacted the experience of some rides due to glare, reflections and water [in the case of some attractions] impeding your ability to clearly see and experience a ride.

Of course, this problem is becoming less and less of a problem as we move into the summer months as Disney continues to remove plexiglass dividers around the 4 theme parks. So far this week, guests are noticing that plexiglass has been removed from boats on The Jungle Cruise and dividers are no longer in place on the monorail either. In past weeks we’ve also seen dividers removed from the pre-show at Rise of the Resistance.

We’re hoping that this trend of removing plexiglass around Walt Disney World continues, especially in queues. Naturally, we know that this will take some time and shouldn’t be expected to change completely overnight. As always, we’ll continue to keep you updated on these changes.
