Splash Mountain MIGHT Be Getting Some Love After All!

Some interesting news made its way through the airwaves today as Anika Noni Rose, best known for being the voice of Princess Tiana, revealed that Splash Mountain will be reimagined after all!

During an appearance on Good Morning America, Ms Rose made the somewhat unofficial announcement that guests will see Princess and the Frog take over the controversial classic, Splash Mountain, in 2024. Disney is not confirming the timeline announced by Ms Rose earlier today, but they have released a statement:

“We have already shared how we are bringing Tiana’s story to life at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. While timing has not been determined, we look forward to sharing details during Essence Festival of Culture in New Orleans in July.”

Of course, there’s still quite a bit we don’t know about transforming Splash Mountain into Princess and the Frog. There’s no information regarding when we could expect to see the attraction go down or when the grand re-opening of the new attraction will take place. What we do know is that the plans we thought might be scrapped are still in motion; which is exciting for a number of reasons.

We’ve not been shy here about how much we love Princess Tiana and judging by the length of lines at the Princess Tiana meet and greet. . . we’re not alone. But aside from all the positive things that this revamp would bring to the park, it’s also exciting that there is some sort of plan in motion to bring this attraction back from the brink of complete and utter disrepair. While we haven’t ridden the attraction in a while, it’s no secret that Splash Mountain is in need of a LOT of love, whether that comes in the form of a reimagining or not.

As always, we’ll be keeping our ear to the ground for more information about anything happening to Splash Mountain in the future.
