Tropical Storm Warning In Effect For Walt Disney World Area

If you’re planning on being in Walt Disney World this weekend, you may want to make yourself aware of some inclement weather that may have an impact on your trip.

As of June 3rd, 2022 at 7:19AM Eastern, there is a Tropical Storm Warning in effect for Eastern Central Florida including Kissimmee, Yeehaw Junction and Harmony. What this means is that we can expect to see tropical storm force winds within the next 36 hours. In the case of this particular storm, those winds are expected to be between 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. The forecast is also calling for 3 to 6 inches of rain, with higher amounts in some areas, which could result in moderate flooding. The “potential for a few tornadoes” has also been included in this Tropical Storm Warning.

You can read the entire Tropical Storm Warning HERE.

So what exactly does this mean for those of you who are heading to Walt Disney World this weekend or those of you who are already here?

If you’re already packed and ready to go with an arrival scheduled for Saturday June 4th, this may be a good time to start keeping an eye out for any changes and/or notices from your airline regarding this Tropical Storm. While it is still a bit too early to know what flights may be impacted for tomorrow, we do think it’s important to be aware of the potential for delays and/or cancellations that may arise as we move through the next 36 hours. We recommend taking this time, prior to being notified of cancelation or delay, to come up with a plan as to what you and your family can and will do in the event that it does happen. This is especially important if you’ll be catching a connecting flight to MCO and may not have the easy of simply turning around and going back home.

If you’re scheduled to leave Walt Disney World at some point on Saturday June 4th, this is also a good time for you to keep an eye out for any changes and/or notices from your airline regarding this Tropical Storm. We also recommend taking some time to come up with a plan as to what you might need to do in the case of cancellation or delay.

If you’re currently at Walt Disney World and have plans to be here through the weekend, there are still a few things you should do and be aware of in order to continue having a magical time. First and foremost, it’s important to be aware that Disney is a perfectly safe place to ride out a storm like this; particularly if you’re staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. However, you’ll need to take action to ensure you and your family remain safe. This includes staying indoors during the storm and staying off the roads.

We also strongly recommend that you take a moment today and determine whether or not there is anything you may want or need, in terms of supplies, in order to ride out the storm. Keep in mind that there are portions of Saturday when it might not be possible to leave in order to grab a bite to eat. This is something you can plan for by picking up some grab and go items from your hotel’s quick service restaurant or making a stop at a local grocery store.

Experiencing a storm can be scary; especially if you’re experiencing it while on vacation. . . in a hotel. . . hundreds of miles from home. Fortunately, you don’t have to do it alone! We’ll be right here with you every step of the way and giving you the information you need to continue to have a magical [albeit windy and wet] rest of your trip!

Stay spooky and safe out there! We will catch up with you with more information soon!
